Meet the Band
Sun Valley String Band is a product of three musicians
with quite different backgrounds:

Andy, Tyler and Martin

Guitar, Vocals
Andy Marder
Andy's musical influences range from early blues performers like Robert Johnson and Mississippi John Hurt to the bluegrass guitar greats such as Doc Watson, Clarence White and Tony Rice, to name a few. He played in several bands in his younger years but gave up music to focus on a career in software engineering. Recently Andy brushed up on his guitar licks and joined the Ramona music scene where he met Martin and Tyler, and the rest is history.

Guitar, Vocals
Tyler Stamets
Tyler is a lifelong musician, song writer and performer. Growing up in the mountain town of Julian Ca, he was inspired by making music with his family and in later years as a solo performer. He wrote his first songs at the age of 13 and hasn't stopped since. Tyler brings an eclectic mix of unexpected covers and heartfelt originals with folk and bluegrass flair.

Bass, Vocals
Martin Theiler
Martin’s musical background rooted in Rockabilly and Country with some Pop and Rock thrown in for good measure. Besides playing bass, he composed, arranged, produced singers and bands. Coming to Ramona, he considered this to be his musical retirement. But when Ramona’s music scene started waking up after the pandemic, he could not resist picking up the bass again. He first embraced the Bluegrass style when he began jamming with Tyler and Andy. Being part of a trio without drums, he implemented his version of a rockabilly percussive bass style that has become an important sound element of the trio.
